Data Center Power
Carrierhouse has two electrical feeds from FPL. The building's critical load is supported by a 480 Volt service backed up by 3 Onan Cummins generators totaling over one Mega Watt capacity. If power from FPL is lost, the load is assumed by two separate systems, one for AC (Emerson Liebert UPS) and one DC power (redundant 48 Volt battery banks) until the load is transferred to generator power by the external transfer switch.
The two main generators run on a parallel bus. Load can be handled by either one of the generators or shared among both of them. Should one generator fail, the other one will handle the critical load.
The data center and teleport facility can run on generator power for 15 days without refueling and we supplement this with an assured fuel delivery contract.
Data Center UPS Battery and Generators

UPS Battery: The data center owns and maintains a highly efficient and eco friendly Emerson Network Power Liebert UPS Battery with dual battery banks. The battery offers enhanced levels of power monitoring including and a DSP control system. The UPS contains a Web Interface which manages a wide range of operating parameters, alarms and notifications transmitted to the Network Operations Center.
The Liebert NX UPS Battery has an internal bypass, allowing for scheduled maintenance to take place without interruption to client power. Carrierhouse has also implemented an external bypass, which allows the addition or replacement of the UPS resources without interruption of service.
FPL Electricity: FPL has designated us to be on the Priority 1 grid by virtue of the fact that the Miami Gardens Police Head Quarters building is just 75 yards away. This means that in the event of an outage the first responders will seek to restore power to our grid before many other affected areas.
HVAC Systems: Carrierhouse owns and maintains close to 50 A/C units as a critical part of our operation. Minor preventive maintenance takes place on a monthly basis. Regular preventive maintenance work is performed quarterly on all units.
Main maintenance contract has been in place with the same vendor since start of operations in 2002. This company installs and maintains (24 x 7 x 365) all units in the Center. Additional maintenance contracts are also in place.
